In a press release dated February 28, 2011, Apricus Biosciences, Inc. introduced Vitaros – the latest addition to an increasingly-crowded, and competitive list of erectile dysfunction remedies now available to consumers. Despite the fact that it has already debuted in Europe, Vitaros’ announced release in the United States was greeted with great interest, since it represents a significant threat to ED industry leaders Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra.
From coast to coast, erectile dysfunction sufferers are already asking, “How is Vitaros different from those drugs already on the market, and what makes it any better?” Per Apricus Biosciences, there are two elements that differentiate the drug from its established competitors: its unique delivery system, and improved biochemical process.
How Vitaros is Used
Unlike the aforementioned erectile dysfunction remedies already on the market, Vitaros is not taken orally as a pill. Instead, this new drug is applied directly onto the penis as a topical cream.
Per Apricus Biosciences’ statement, the topical application of Vitaros allowed test subjects to achieve erections in just minutes, without any of the side effects commonly caused by ED drugs that are orally ingested. This is attributed to Vitaros’ active ingredient, alprostadil, entering the subject’s blood stream much quicker than was previously possible when the drug was only administered as an injection or suppository.
Vitaros – Why Does It Work?
Similar to the traditional ED drugs that are administered as pills, Vitaros is a PDES (phosphodiesterase) inhibitor that stimulates increased blood flow throughout the body. Its effectiveness is due to its ability to partially-block the PDES enzyme that is sometimes associated with poor circulation to the extremities (including the penis), while simultaneously boosting cardiac activity.
Studies showed the topical application of Vitaros to be significantly more effective than the competition in treating men with severe ED, however. Because many subjects who had been unsuccessfully treated with Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra, responded favorably to the new drug, this is cause for new optimism among many long-time ED sufferers.
Will Vitaros Make the Opposition Obsolete?
While the final verdict on Vitaros will not be in for some time, its apparent success in treating severe ED – coupled with its fast action and lack of side effects – has caught the attention of everyone associated with erectile dysfunction remedies. Vitaros seems, if nothing else, to be a viable new alternative for men who have previously been unable to achieve satisfactory results with standard ED medications.
